Old Flame is proud to announce the signing of Brooklyn trio, Dead Stars. Playing with a variety of musical styles, Dead Stars deliver crunchy and fuzz filled tracks, being compared to 90′s groups like Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and others. Noisey Premiere ‘My Madeline’ by Mean Creek

Off their forthcoming record, ‘Local Losers,’ the folks over at Noisey recently premiered the second single from Mean Creek, with their track, ‘My Madeline.’ Talking about how friendly and awesome Mean Creek are as a band, Noisey touched on the reassuring qualities found within ‘My Madeline(‘s)’ lyrics and the ‘sugary’ quality of Chris Keene’s vocals as Aurore backs him up with “scuzzed up guitars.” Noisey also compared Mean Creek to Sebadoh, for making great use of the minor chord.

‘Local Losers’ is out April 8th via Old Flame Records.

Rookie Mag Premiere ‘Black and Studs’ Video by Potty Mouth


Off their debut album, ‘Hell Bent’ Potty Mouth have just had their video for, “Black and Studs” premier over at Rookie Mag. Rookie described the track as being the, ‘holy trinity of punk,’ as Potty Mouth perform about, ”honesty, authenticity, and rebellion.” The premier also featured a great interview with Abby and Ally about what it’s been like since releasing the record and the all the stuff that comes with it.

Old Flame Records Official SXSW Showcase

We’re honored to be working in conjunction with SXSW this year to be throwing an official showcase along with Bar/None Records. The showcase will be the night of Friday, March 14th at Valhalla. We will be presenting the first half of the night with Boston quartet Mean Creek, ATL garage rockers Turf War, and all-girl punk band Potty Mouth. The second half of the night will be in the hands of of Bar/None acts, including ambient duo Eros and the Eschaton, Oakland’s Ezra Furman, and indie punk band The Front Bottoms.

‘Fingers’ Video by Shark? Premieres on MTV


Brooklyn rockers, Shark?, have released yet another quirky video to accompany one their tracks. Off their 2013 record, ‘Savior,’ Shark? pieced together strings of footage taken from various tours in 2013 to play underneath, “Fingers.” in MTV’s Premier, they described the video as a, “seizure-inducing barrage of images matches perfectly the frantic quality of the song.” Bassist, Andy Kinsey also mentioned in the piece, that Shark?’s tours are often like embarking on a journey with the 3 Stooges, which is pretty well encapsulated in the video!

Potty Mouth on World Cafe


Continuing to take the world by storm, Potty Mouth set-up shop at NPR’s World Cafe to record a few tracks from their debut LP, ‘Hell Bent,’ as well as two new songs. “FFF” and “Truman Show” are the two new tracks from the girls, while “Rusted Shut” and “The Spins” are off their fall 2013 record. NPR went on to say that Potty Mouth were easily one of the loudest bands to play World Cafe, which make us really happy.

Pitchfork Reviews Shark? Track ‘Fingers’


Off their recent record, Shark?, just had their track, ‘Fingers’ written about in Pitchfork. Describing the track as being the, “perfect balance of punk form and function,” Pitchfork also spoke about how bassist, Andey Kinsey’s swooning and groovy lines, act as the perfect compliment to vocalist and guitarist, Kevin Diamond’s, “howl.”
